Privacy Policy

Seli ("the App") is an open-source voice assistant that runs on your phone. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data the App processes, what it sends to third parties, and what stays on your device.

The following data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it:

• Your settings and configuration (API keys, preferences, theme)
• Conversation history
• Wake word detection — processed entirely on-device by Porcupine

When you interact with the App, certain data is sent to the AI provider you have configured. This happens only when you actively trigger a voice command:

• Speech-to-Text: Your voice recording is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. The audio is not stored by OpenAI per their API data usage policy.
• AI Chat: Your transcribed text is sent to your chosen provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenClaw, or a custom endpoint). Only the current conversation context is transmitted.
• Text-to-Speech: The AI response text is sent to OpenAI's TTS API to generate audio. The text is not stored by OpenAI per their API data usage policy.

All API communication uses HTTPS encryption. We do not operate any intermediary servers — requests go directly from your device to the provider.

Your API keys are stored locally on your device using the platform's secure storage (AsyncStorage). They are never transmitted to us or any party other than the respective API provider during authenticated requests.

Wake word detection is powered by Picovoice Porcupine and runs entirely on-device. No audio data is sent to Picovoice or any other service for wake word processing. The microphone stream is analyzed locally in real-time and discarded immediately.

The App does not include any analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, or telemetry. We do not collect usage data, crash reports, or device identifiers.

We do not collect, store, or process any personal data. The App operates entirely through direct connections between your device and the third-party APIs you configure. There is no backend, no database, and no server-side component operated by us.

If you sign up for the beta waitlist on our website, we collect your email address solely to send you a beta invitation. We will not share your email with third parties or use it for marketing beyond the beta program.

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
